In the 90’s, he began composing original music for solo classical and acoustic guitar and self-released an instrumental guitar CD, and today he fronts a five-piece band playing Santana and Jack Johnson covers alongside his originals. Weiss explores unusual territory with his selection of songs and choice of instrumentation. This is evident in his current band lineup, consisting of two classical-electric guitars (played by Weiss and Baron Kim), fretless bass (Jim Lowry), drums/percussion (Nathan Matson) and percussion/multi-instruments (harmonica, guitar, maracas, all played by Daniel DePaola). Although the band initially began as an instrumental group modeled after the new flamenco and Latin music of Ottmar Liebert, Jesse Cook, and Oscar Lopez, Weiss has added soulful two-part vocal harmonies between him and DePaola over the bed of smooth Latin guitar- and percussion-driven grooves.
 
Following on the success of his 1999 self-released solo effort “Finger Noise” CD, a regionally aclaimed album, Weiss has expanded his act from solo to a fuller ensemble sound featuring what he is locally known for, the warm sweet tone of the nylon-string guitar. "Burning Cold" is the title track of Weiss' latest 4-song EP, which along with Weiss’ full-length “Finger Noise” solo CD is available at most local record stores, online at the links below, or at any of their live shows.
