Afternoon Music Production Seminar - AMPS
AMPS, stands for afternoon music production seminar, and it's happening at Clearview High School, 2613 Thornton Road in Ferndale. Says teacher and BIMA Board member, Rob Slater:
"On Tuesdays we have some kids who stay after, and we play music and teach each other stuff. I would like to turn that into a bigger program that could actually get students some experience recording and songwriting. My idea is to bring in some musicians from the Bellingham Independent Music Association who have expressed interest in sharing resources. One of the strands at Rock School (a national program gaining momentum throughout the country) is called Band 101, and it is basically a how-to program to gain entry to the music industry."
If you're a musician and want to join us for an afternoon, contact Rob@RobSlater.com or call 383-9345.

SONGSALIVE!
The Bellingham Independent Music Association (BIMA) is proud to announce a new partnership and affiliation with a national songwriters and composers organization called SONGSALIVE!
Songsalive! is a non-profit organization dedicated to the nurturing, support and promotion of songwriters and composers worldwide. Founded in 1997 by Gilli Moon Aliotti and Roxanne Kiely, in Sydney Australia, Songsalive! is run by songwriters for songwriters and now has over 18 chapter cities around the world. It acts as an epicentre, a heart of the international songwriting community and music markets, bridging the gaps, tapping songwriters into the pulse of the business and at the same time giving them and their music the support they deserve.
As part of this affiliation, BIMA has started up a local BIMA/Songsalive Showcase to be held every 4th Wednesday of the month at the Wild Buffalo. See: www.bima.com/events/showcase.
BIMA held its first BIMA/Songsalive Songwriters Critique Workshop on May 20, and scheduled another one on Sunday June 10 from 3-5 pm. For more information and location, please contact Vicky Reardon at 656-6535. Also, as a footnote, SONGSALIVE has recently opened a Seattle chapter, to find out more about performing at the SONGSALIVE Seattle showcase (at the Conor Byrne Pub in Ballard), please contact Carrie Clark at seattle@songsalive.org.
BIMA members may join Songsalive! for $30.00 general membership (instead of $50) or $80 (instead of $100) for elite membership. Benefits of being a member of SONGSALIVE include national performance opportunities, exposure through CD compilations and website podcasting, regular songwriting critique sessions, including input from music industry experts.
